Mass of prominences experiencing failed eruptions

چکیده
Abstract A number of solar filaments/prominences demonstrate failed eruptions, when a filament at first suddenly starts to ascend and then decelerates stops some greater height in the corona. The mechanism termination eruptions is not clear yet. One confining forces able stop eruption gravity force. Using simple model partial current-carrying torus loop anchored photosphere photospheric magnetic field measurements as boundary condition for potential extrapolation into corona, we estimated masses 15 eruptive filaments. values mass show rather wide distribution range $4\times10^{15}$ – $270\times10^{16}$ g. Masses most filaments, laying middle range, are accordance with estimations made earlier on basis spectroscopic white-light observations.

Failed Power Plant Turns Into Mass Murder
Mitochondria are known as the powerhouse of the cell. For a high-energy–consuming organ, such as the heart, continuous ATP production via oxidative metabolism in the mitochondria is essential. Apart from ATP generation, mitochondria are also key to the regulation of cellular metabolism, calcium homeostasis, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been strongl...
متن کاملMass-independent sulfur isotopic compositions in stratospheric volcanic eruptions.
The observed mass-independent sulfur isotopic composition (Delta33S) of volcanic sulfate from the Agung (March 1963) and Pinatubo (June 1991) eruptions recorded in the Antarctic snow provides a mechanism for documenting stratospheric events. The sign of Delta33S changes over time from an initial positive component to a negative value. Delta33S is created during photochemical oxidation of sulfur...
متن کاملMagnetic Dips in Prominences
Magnetic dips are generally assumed to be basic equilibrium con-gurations in quiescent solar prominences. Here we discuss two types of the magnetic dips which were considered in the literature: (1) dips resulting from a force-free magnetic equilibrium in the corona, and (2) magnetic dips which are formed in situations where the Lorentz force balances the weight of the prominence plasma. An impo...
متن کاملThe Fine Structure of Solar Prominences
Solar prominences and filaments (prominences projected against the solar disk) exhibit a large variety of fine structures which are well observed down to the resolution limit of ground-based telescopes. We describe the morphological aspects of these fine structures which basically depend on the type of a prominence (quiescent or active-region). Then we review current theoretical scenarios which...
متن کاملDynamics of Lake Eruptions and Possible Ocean Eruptions
Dissolved gas in liquid is able to power violent eruptions. Two kinds of such gas-driven eruptions are known in nature: explosive volcanic eruptions driven by dissolved H2O in magma at high temperatures and lake eruptions driven by dissolved CO2 in water at low temperatures. There are two known occurrences of lake eruptions, one in 1984 (Lake Monoun) and one in 1986 (Lake Nyos), both in Cameroo...
